| Reflections In A Funhouse Mirror
is an adventure in physical theatre for young audiences. Embracing
the worlds of mask, mime, and the imagination, Peter Jarvis &
Naomi Tyrrell create characters struggling with inner fears and
contemporary world problems such as low self esteem and peer
acceptance. This delightful show features a variety of mask
characters, including an awkward teenager, a bully, two street musicians
(who unravel this contemporary tale) and an elderly woman with eternal
optimism. Young audiences are empowered as they witness this
teenager struggling for acceptance and celebrating the realization of
his own self worth.
The second section in this production is a creation by Peter Jarvis entitled The Cube. Peter suspends the audience's grasp of physical reality as the Cube transforms into extraordinary images that seem impossible for one man to conjure. The magical piece has won acclaim in Poland, Hawaii and England and has been featured with symphonies across Canada. Following a long tradition of art through education, this dynamic duo also encourages audience participation through simple mime skills, the ABC's of language and robotic movement techniques, which children will recognize through Peter Jarvis' many appearances on Sesame Street, YTV, TVO, and the Cannes Award winning series Vid Kids.
