Why I do "Silverelvis" on the street.

Why I do Silverelvis on the street.

I want to give my audience a profound sense of curiosity. (Is it real ? Is it a person ? Is he black, white or purple ?). How can he stand so still for so long ? Is that his real hair ? How can he stand the heat ? How can a real person move like that ? Is it a robot ? How does he have the patience to do this ? Where did he get that jacket ?

Curiosity excites the brain and when that is activated the imagination is engaged and the audience are brought to a place of awe (jaw releases, mouth drops open). The audience experience a stillness on the outside allowing a playful wonder from within themselves. This experience can last one second or minutes and the audience do feel an inspiration within themselves, this will very in intensity depending on the individual and how well I do holding the illusion of the "Silverelvis" character.

My act is about hypnotizing an audience into their imagination, a suspension of their disbelief. The result of the experience is a genuine smile. I took them somewhere. That is why I do this. It shifts people out of the treadmill of the daily distractions and brings them back to their imagination. It's not applause that I hear, like the circle shows, it's curiosity, wonder or conversations of disbelief, that is what I hear. And when I do, I know I have done my job.

This is biggest currency for me. When the audience pay, their curiosity is satiated. That is priceless.

My recent gig as "Silver Elvis" at the Toronto Auto Show

The Silver Elvis act is the most unique spin on Elvis you will ever see. A creation of Toronto performance artist Peter Jarvis, this silver robotic statue of Elvis, (Not unlike Elvis himself), is cash activated - " thank you,... thank you very much". In a world of 58,000 Elvis impersonators - there is only one Elvis simulator. Silver Elvis is the simulation of the inspiration. Teens freak when they see this Memphis mechanical move, grandmothers swoon as toddlers dance with this "King of Bling " to the platinum hits. Silver Elvis sightings have been witnessed from the United States, New Zealand, Kiev, Ireland, Malaysia, and coast to coast in Canada. Toronto sun: "Silver Elvis best street act in Toronto".

What the media are saying:

"Charlie Chaplin" floored 'em at the silent auction

Chaplin is a heart-warming character that Peter Jarvis dances ad mimes with his own unique touch. Peter Jarvis’ Chaplin character has dressed windows in an Eaton’s display and roller skated down fashion show runways and greeted at cocktail hour. This versatile character can add charm and warmth to your reception, stage show, window display or convention booth.
